What is the difference between a Shock Treatment Ozone Generator (ours) and Ozone Air Purifiers? Some air purifier vendors will state that they're ozone air purifiers can "treat" up to 3500 sq ft. What they really mean is that their machines will "freshen the air" in areas up to 3500 sq ft. Ozone air purifiers can't perform "ozone shock treatments", and to be honest, that's the only approved function for an ozone generator. To PERMANENTLY remove odors, you need to perform your ozone SHOCK TREATMENT with at least 1000 mg/h of ozone per 100 sq ft. This is the ratio used by odor remediation contractors like Servepro and others. 1000 milligrams of ozone per 100 sq ft will create an ozone concentration so high that it only takes a few hours to permanently remove any odor, even skunk. This is crucial because prolonged exposure times to high ozone (24 hrs) is problematic to petro based substrates. Why doesn't our "basic build" ozone generator have a case? Several reasons. One, shock treatments are only performed in unoccupied areas. Secondly, heat destroys ozone. The open design helps keep the plate cooler than closed units. Thirdly, save money. Fourthly, easier to clean-up. The plate needs to be wiped down after each use, difficult if you have to remove 12 tiny screws. We also pride ourselves in making a product that is designed to last a lifetime. I know this is a novel concept, given that most things today are made cheap and disposable in order to keep the factories abroad churning out products, but we don't own a factory in China so why should we care? We purposely omitted "prone to fail parts" in our machines (timers, switches, mother boards) because ozone will destroy those parts in shot time.
